50 meter high crane on Cometto MSPE to its final destination

The Japanese logistics company Nippon Express masters another challenging task thanks to its self-propelled Cometto MSPE fleet.

At a port, a 50 meter high crane needs to be moved from a barge to its operational location.

The SPMT are assembled in a side-by-side configuration with a total of 20 axle lines. The composed loading platform reaches a dimension of 5,860 mm width and 19,000 mm length.

The port crane with the frame structure weighs 400 tons. The general conditions for the operations are complicated as the sea was rough during the unloading process.

But the Cometto MSPE with its electronic steering system enables to keep the freight with its high center of gravity all the time precisely in position.

The Nippon specialists need to be careful to avoid a crash between the pneumatic unloader and the rack in the installation area.

But the 700 mm stroke of the self-propelled axles allows to install the crane accurate to the millimetre in its final position.
