Al Faris puts 30-meters vessel on 18 Cometto SPMT axle lines

Efficiency, speed and safety are key facts for a successful handling of such projects.

Special and heavy haulage missions are daily business for the Al Faris Group. Their Cometto SPMT fleet permits to combine specific combinations according the project. A 30-meters vessel was quite a challenge that needs a self-propelled solution.

“We recently undertook the transportation of an absorber vessel which weighs 65.1-tons. The path led from the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi to the Mubarraz island by road and marine transportation”, explains Revon Pereira, Marketing Executive at Al Faris, the background of the job.

Tandem lift onto the island

Efficiency, speed and safety are key facts for a successful handling of such projects for Al Faris. Due to the size of the item – the freight was almost 30 meters long with a diameter of around 3 meters – the experts put together a Cometto SPMT trailer configuration with 18 axle lines.

The vessel arrives safely at its destination where everything was prepared for the next step. “For the erection of the vessel, it was necessary to make a tandem lift using two Liebherr mobile cranes with a lifting capacity of 800 tons and 200 tons respectively to erect it on the foundation at Mubarraz island”, says Revon Pereira.

Founded in 1992, the family-owned company Al Faris Group owns a huge fleet of cranes and heavy equipment. The self-propelled modules from Cometto have become a key part of their technological tools since their acquisition last year. In total they count on a fleet of 64 self-propelled MSPE axle lines from Cometto with an axle load of 48 tons, four 331kW Power Pack Units and numerous accessories.
