Trust and reliability form the fundamental basis for a strong, long-term relationship. HKV Schmitz + Partner GmbH and the Faymonville Group have cultivated precisely these values for over 25 years. With the acquisition of 12 Cometto SPMT axle lines, the co-operation has reached another milestone.
The crane and heavy haulage service provider from Cologne, which is active throughout Germany and Europe, is now relying on these self-propelled vehicles for autonomous heavy haulage tasks. It is the next chapter in a success story. HKV Managing Director Michael Schmitz emphasises his company's relationship with the Faymonville Group. ‘My father already established this connection with Alain Faymonville and the friendly relationship is still lived and cultivated in the family. We have grown together over the years.’
Quality enables growth
Over 40 vehicles have already been delivered to Cologne. Michael Schmitz outlines the development ... to the MAX: ‘It started with ballast trailers, followed by models of various product ranges. We have always been impressed by the high quality of the products and their availability. It was therefore a logical decision to also acquire our SPMTs from the group of companies - and therefore from Cometto.’
The volume of the new fleet in the striking yellow and green colours comprises 12 SPMT axle lines with a Power Pack with an output of 105 kilowatts and another with 202 kilowatts. Even before the final inspection at the production plant in Borgo San Dalmazzo, Italy, the corresponding TÜV certificates were issued. This means that the appropriate combinations can be coupled immediately after the self-propelled trailers arrive at HKV in Cologne so that user training can begin seamlessly. ‘Perfect preparation,’ says Jörg Holtappels, SPMT project manager at HKV, ’These steps, which were initiated in advance, ensure that we can implement them directly on the next wind turbine construction site. Because the first SPMT deployment is already on the programme, where we also have to drive on public roads.’
Cometto SPMT opens up new horizons
Joachim Kolb, Cometto Sales Manager, sees this project as a signal for the entire industry. ‘It shows once again that every success-orientated crane company will need a flexible and powerful SPMT for horizontal transport in the foreseeable future. This is the only way to profitably expand the range of services on offer. HKV has taken this forward-looking step and we wish our valued customer every success and full order books at all times.’
