Well-known cruise providers such as MSC or Costa Crociere rely on the Italian specialist. Fincantieri stands for quality and to ensure these high standards, Cometto plays a key role within their production workflow.
For many years Fincantieri is using Cometto shipyard transporters at its shipyard in Monfalcone (GO) to transport the impressive ship parts and largest ship sections from one production step to another.
For these tasks, a new SYT model now strengthens the fleet. The 7/5 is equipped with seven axle lines and fourteen suspensions in total with five propelled axles.
Its loading floor dimensions are of 22x6 meters with two operator cabins safely located under the platform. Having a payload capacity of impressive 540 tons, the Cometto 7/5 from Fincantieri has also a soundproofing system for the Power Pack Unit and a mechanical coupling possibility for a back-to-back-configuration with the existing SYT 8 already in use at Monfalcone site.
The Cometto SYT is characterizes by the electronic steering, a hydraulic lifting system and the possibility to be coupled with other transporters. This feature enables to get a larger platform and a higher payload capacity while maintaining the perfect synchronization of the convoy.
The trustful partnership between Cometto and Fincantieri S.p.A. dates back to 1985, when the trailer manufacturer delivered the first 16 vehicles from different product families (SYT, ETH, ETL) to the vessel manufacturer.
Fincantieri is one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups, global Italian leader in cruise ship design and reference player in all high-tech shipbuilding industry sectors.
With over 230 years of history and more than 7,000 ships built, Fincantieri maintains its know-how, expertise and management centres in Italy with a production network of 18 shipyards operating in four continents.
