A beautiful 58 m mega yacht. A rare scenario that recently
The spectacular project was handled by the company TER Srl, member of the Piccini Group. TER is the specialist in handling the most famous mega yachts with the label “Made in Italy”. The defined transport solution for this move were self-propelled modular trailers by Cometto.
TER had to carry the impressive freight over 5 kilometers from the manufacturing site of the ship to another location within Darsena, a specific area close to Pisa in Italy, where main yacht manufacturing facilities are to be found.
Self-propelled power in open compound
The cargo weighed 650t, which required a very powerful piece of transport equipment. A total of 16 SPMT axle lines with an axle load capacity of 48 t and four Power Pack Units with 110 kW were used. To reach perfect stability and load distribution, the convoy was set up in an open compound configuration.
Both in front and at the rear of the combination, there were two convoys, each composed of MSPE 4‑axle modular trailers with their Power Pack Unit and specific transversal beams.
This well-balanced solution passed the challenge with flying colours. The modularity of the vehicles gives the customer all the possibilities to form lifting platforms of any dimension and shape, depending on the specific cargo requirements.
Besides the impressive capacity and the versatility in configuration, the self-propelled transporter excels thanks to their maneuverability and robust chassis design. The MSPE series by Cometto is available with capacities from 40t up to 70t per axle line.
