330 tonnes across 18 Cometto SPMT axle lines

The German company Schares is at work a lot with its Cometto SPMT self-propelled modular transporter. Now, the 18-axle fleet is on its way to Kleve.

An absorber has to be moved out of the factory halls at the Winkels company.

Once again, the Schares team has planned everything down to the last detail in cooperation with the customer. In the factory halls, the absorber is ready and waiting, weighing impressive 330 tonnes and with 52 metres in length. After a final inspection, the element with a diameter of 6.8 metres is moved out of the hall to the storage area by an SPMT self-propelled modular transporter.

12 axles leading, six trailing

The total of 18 axle lines from Schares are used in an open compound. Two 6-axle units in side-by-side combination are coupled in front of the convoy and loaded with 220 tonnes. A 6-axle unit is placed centrally under the load, where forces of 110 tonnes act.

As usual, the Schares driver manoeuvres the absorber safely over the terrain. The SPMT scores with its robustness and high degree of precision.

After arriving at the unloading point, the absorber is later transported by ship to Antwerp, while the self-propelled modules from Schares set off for their next assignment.
