A repair session for a 1,100 tons yacht

When a ship comes out of the water, high logistics efforts are required. For maintenance session, this yacht is brought ashore.

A self-propelled fleet with 40 axle lines picks it up and moves the freight safely on unknown terrain.

The mission is organized by the well-known TER company, member of the Piccini Group. TER is the specialist in handling the famous mega yachts with the label “Made in Italy”. The ship which has been moved during this project has a weight of 1,100 tons.

The assembly structure of the self-propelled SPMT fleet was quite unusual this time. In the rear of the ship, two lines with 14 MSPE axles each have been assembled in a side-by-side configuration. But for the front part of the freight, three 4-axle units are put together in 90° position to build a larger platform which allows a better stability. Five Powerpack units offer the necessary power to propel the convoy. In this way, the yacht is transported from the floating dock to the repairing building site.

This well-balanced solution by TER passes the challenge with flying colors. The self-propelled modular transporters MSPE by Cometto excels thanks to their good handling, the modularity and the robust chassis design. The MSPE series is available with different capacities going from 40t up to 70t per axle line.
